Principal’s Message


Dear Kirkmere Families, 


My name is Michelle Payich and I am excited to introduce myself as the principal of Kirkmere Elementary School.  I began my career in the Youngstown City School District in 1994 as a teacher and most recently I was  the principal of Williamson Elementary School for the last 5 years.


Your  child is assigned to Kirkmere Elementary School this year due to the new school boundaries in most cases.  


Please be assured that the health, safety, and well being of your child is my main priority.   The Kirkmere Staff is devoted to creating a positive school experience for your family while providing a solid educational foundation for our scholars. 


I look forward to starting the new year and working with your family.

Kirkmere Elementary Orientation


Date:  August 31, 2021

Time: 4:30- 6:00 pm

Parents/Guardians must attend with child

  • Meet the Administration Team and Office Staff

  • Scholar’s Classroom and Teacher Information

  • Family Handbook

  • Emergency Medical Forms

  • Transportation Information (if available from the Transportation Department)

  • Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) School Wide Expectations




Parent Planning


First Day of School is Tuesday September 7, 2021


School Day:  8:30-4:00


Breakfast is served from 8:30-8:45

Tardy bell is at 8:50


Dismissal at 3:50

Car -Riders picked up promptly by 4:00.


Parents/Guardians please stay in the car and have proper identification.


Children will be released to adults listed as approved pick up by parents/guardians only. 



  • YCSD Transportation Department will notify parents of bus information for those who are eligible for busing. 

  • School supplies will be provided to scholars; however, backpacks will not be provided this year. 

  • School hours are 8:30 to 4:00, scholars will enter the building at 8:30.  Staff will not be available to supervise before 8:30, please do not drop off before that time.  

  • Breakfast will be served from 8:30-8:45.

  • The tardy bell is at 8:50, parents/guardians must enter the building and sign in late scholars.  

  • All scholars will receive free breakfast and lunch. 

  • Car riders pick up promptly at 4:00.  Staff work day is over at 4:00, please make arrangements for children to be picked up on time each day. 

    • Adults must have identification for pick up.

    • Scholars will be released to adults who are listed as approved pick up.


Note to Kindergarten and Grade 1 Parents/Guardians: 

  • Make sure your child can tell his/her first and last name to school adults

  • Please practice recognizing their name is writing. 


All scholars should know what grade level they are in this school year.  




Covid Updates

(Subject to change with mandates)


The YCSD is Resuming In-Person Learning at this time.


Social Distancing 3 ft indoor areas (cafe, classrooms, halls, gym etc)


Temperature check will be taken upon arrival. Temps over 100 will be sent home.

*Please do not send sick children to school. 


Outdoor Recess will resume weather permitting


Masks  The CDC recommends masks indoors k-12.
